Your journey begins with arrival in Rwanda and a coordinated pickup for the drive toward Uganda. Before crossing the border, you’ll visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important and educational stop that provides historical context and insight into Rwanda’s past through exhibits, photographs, and personal accounts.
After the visit, you’ll continue on a scenic drive through rolling hills and countryside before crossing into Uganda and arriving near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check in to your lodge, enjoy dinner, and rest in preparation for the trek the following morning.
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a safety and conservation briefing led by park rangers. You’ll then be assigned to a specific gorilla family and begin your guided trek through dense forest terrain. Trek times vary depending on where the gorillas are located that day.
Once the gorillas are found, you’ll spend one full hour observing them up close in their natural environment. After the trek, you’ll receive an official gorilla trekking certificate before returning to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, and dinner. All meals are included.
After breakfast, you’ll travel to Lake Bunyonyi for a scenic and relaxed final day. Enjoy a boat ride across the lake while taking in the surrounding hills and learning about the history of the islands, including local cultural stories. This portion of the trip offers time to unwind after the trek before beginning your return transfer or continuing onward travel.
