Arrive in Johannesburg and meet your safari team for the transfer to the Greater Kruger area. After settling into your lodge, you’ll head out on your first open-air game drive in a private reserve bordering Kruger National Park. This afternoon and evening drive is your introduction to the African bush, with opportunities to spot wildlife as the sun sets. Dinner is served back at the lodge.
Start the day with an early morning game drive when wildlife activity is at its peak. With experienced guides and trackers, you’ll search for lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo, along with countless other species.
After returning to the lodge for breakfast and downtime, the afternoon includes another guided game drive, often followed by a night safari where nocturnal animals become active. Meals are provided throughout the day.
Today includes a longer game drive inside Kruger National Park itself. Unlike private reserves, this offers a classic safari experience across vast landscapes and diverse ecosystems. Guides focus on tracking and positioning for wildlife sightings while sharing insight into animal behavior and conservation.
Later in the day, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we visit Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, where you’ll learn about hands-on conservation efforts focused on rehabilitating injured and orphaned animals. During the visit, you’ll get remarkably close to several residents, including lions and leopards, while gaining a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation in South Africa.
After returning to the lodge for lunch, the afternoon continues with a 3-hour game drive in the Balule Private Game Reserve, known for excellent Big Five sightings. The day ends back at the lodge with dinner and an overnight stay.
Day five is dedicated entirely to game viewing in Kruger National Park. You’ll spend the day exploring different regions of the park with experienced guides who track animal movements and adapt the route for the best possible sightings. Expect a full day of wildlife encounters, photography opportunities, and learning about the ecosystem that makes Kruger one of Africa’s most famous parks.
The final day begins with an early morning sunrise game drive, offering one last chance to spot wildlife during peak activity hours. After breakfast, we depart the reserve and travel along the Panorama Route, one of South Africa’s most scenic drives. Highlights include stops at Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels, showcasing dramatic landscapes and viewpoints.
We return to Johannesburg in the late afternoon, with airport drop-off available by arrangement.
