Itinerary: What to Expect

Day 1: Arrival, Trekking, and Volcano Views

You’ll be picked up early morning in Antigua and driven to Aldea La Soledad, where you’ll meet your guides for breakfast and a quick orientation. After breakfast, gear checks, and loading up your packs, the hike begins around 11:00 AM.

The initial ascent winds through farmland and cloud forest, with cooler air and shaded trails. Around midday, you'll stop for a provided lunch with breathtaking mountain views. As you gain elevation, the trees thin out, revealing sweeping panoramas of surrounding volcanoes.

By about 3:30 PM, you’ll arrive at Campify’s private glamping basecamp, set up facing Fuego Volcano. Here, you’ll settle into your luxury tent, relax with hot chocolate by the campfire, and watch Fuego’s dramatic lava eruptions light up the night sky. Dinner is served fresh at camp, followed by time to unwind around the fire. Expect chilly temperatures at night, but your heavy-duty gear and glamping setup will keep you warm.

Day 2: Summit and Return

Before sunrise, you’ll set off for the final summit push (optional but highly recommended). The early morning hike to the Acatenango crater takes about an hour to 90 minutes. The reward? Unbelievable panoramic views as the sun rises above a sea of clouds, illuminating Fuego’s eruptions in the distance.

After descending back to basecamp, enjoy a hot drink and light snack before breaking camp. From there, you’ll hike down to the pickup point and drive to a nearby restaurant for a hearty traditional Guatemalan breakfast (eggs, beans, plantains, tortillas, and fresh juice) before returning to Antigua by late morning or early afternoon.

Queen Bed tent for 1-2 people $170/person (or $235 solo)
